How'd Ya Do?

Well...how did ya do?

How did you do this weekend regarding your eating and exercising habits?

Do you have "eaters remorse?"

If you do, don't fret! You can loose whatever you gained by this time next week! :)

Do the workout I laid out for you on Thankgiving day on M, T, TH and Sat and add a cardio day on Weds and Friday by doing a...
  • 5 min warm up
  • 8 reps of-- 1 mins hard effort followed by 2 mins of easy effort
  • 5 min cool down

So go ahead, try it! If you haven't lost what you gained...then I am a monkey's uncle!

For those of you looking to "slim down a little," then this is also a great workout for you!

Not only will it improve your golf fitness, but it will "lean you up" as well!

2 DAYS...Will you overeat?

Kind of a silly question isn't it???

But really, will you?

My question to you is, WHY?

WHY make yourself feel completely uncomfortable?
WHY make yourself have "room clearing gas?"
WHY give yourself a complex because you ate so much, and now you feel like "a cow?"
WHY begin the 'holiday cycle' of weight gain?
WHY make bad choices from now until new years and then turn around and create a new years resolution to get rid of the weight you put on over the holidays cause you didn't ask yourself WHY?

Like I said a few posts ago..."STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!"

Make a decision right NOW to not over eat this thanksgiving and holiday season in general!!!
Make a pact with yourself right NOW to stay fit and NOT gain any weight!

Seriously, DO IT NOW!
SIT DOWN, and right out a contract with yourself and make copies and put it all over the places in your home and work that will remind you to "stand true to your own word to yourself!"

Don't give in, Don't give up, and certainly Don't let yourself down for food!

Thanks Colorado PGA!

On Monday, I was invited (along with my TPI instructing partner Ron Gring) to speak to the Colorado PGA.

These 38 men and women that attended learned about how the body can influence and create swing faults amoung other topics.

I salute them!

And you should too!

You need to ask your golf instructor if he or she believes in the importance of golf fitness as it relates to the game.

If they deny or put off the importance of golf fitness, then I suggest you see an instuctor who does!

Valued readers, the golfing industry is going to a "team concept." It's not just about equipment, instruction and "hit-a-lot-of-balls" anymore...it's about the instructor who is the driver, and his pit crew who contain a fitness professional, a medical professional, a mental professional, a nutrition professional, and an equipment professional.

This combination is what willl not just make solid and outstanding golfers, but will also create better athletes, and afterall, better athletes make better golfers!

So in the end, seek out those who are qualified and believe in the team concept, if you don't you will be left behind!

To win or not to win?

So do you play to win or not to win?

If your answer is to win, why do you think you can?

Have you properly prepared up to the point of playing or competing?

Have you set your mind to it and know you will because your properly prepared?

How do you feel, then, when you don't win, but loose badly?

That's right, you feel bad! Then you go back thru your mind and try to figure out where it was that you messed up that led to your loss.

My question to you is, "did you go back far enough?"

Most people only review to themselves the activity itself, and leave out the preparation time leading up to the playing or competition.

So back to my original question, "did you properly prepare?"

I'll bet your answer is no.

You see this blog doesn't have to do with golf, but any other challenge you may face in life...ie., a presentation, a job interview, or a promotion. The above conversation applies to all aspects of life!

BUT, if we bring it back to golf, it really applies!

You see, if you want to play good golf and play good golf for a long time, you have to be properly prepared.

That includes, golf fitness, proper nutrition, good equipment, good instruction, and a good mental game.

Just like in golf, all other aspects of life will improve with a constant and consistent program of fitness! So if you don't have a fitness program in place, then for life's sake, get one!

After all golf fitness is life fitness!

GOT BACK PAIN? It's NOT your back sometimes!

Looking after you!

Here is a recent newsletter from my collegue Isabel De Los Rios and The Diet Solution. ENJOY!

"I can't believe how many times people have said to me "Oh, I can't do those exercises. I have a bad back." Yeah, you and nearly half a million people around the globe. Chances are you or someone you know has said once or twice "Ah, my aching back."
What many people may not know about me is during my 11 years of personal training, I became a bit of a back specialist. I didn't really pick this specialty on purpose, it just happened "by accident." You see, my clients would come with the purpose of losing weight and getting into better shape, but would somehow relieve their bad backs in the process.
Was it the exercise? The stretching? Their new sense of health and well being? Maybe, but I would strongly argue that their change in diet had more to do with it than any of those other combined.
Oh boy Isabel. That's a bit of a stretch isn't it?
Now, hear me out on this..
Medical professionals are now starting to realize the direct correlation between chronic internal inflammation in the body and conditions such as arthritis, back pain and fibromyalgia. Internal inflammation is a lot like external inflammation but you can't see it so it is not as obvious to us. When you sprain your ankle, your body's natural response is to signal pain (so you won't keep moving and cause more damage) and will also cause inflammation in the injured area (again, so you'll just lie on the couch and chill out). It will also direct fresh blood, antibodies, and vital cells to the area to aid in the healing process. This sounds all fine and dandy but when your body creates inflammation and pain signals in your lower back, sometimes debilitating you for the day, it is not so fine and dandy anymore. You've been there right?
I have had plenty of people look at me like I was crazy when I tried to tell them that if they just eliminated "inflammatory foods" from their meal plans, a lot of the pain would go away. Especially medical professionals who have been so accustomed to just prescribing surgery or pain medications to alleviate bad backs. But I have seen it happen right before my eyes time and time again. People eliminate inflammatory foods like wheat, dairy and sugar, and voilĂ
...Back pain gone in a few weeks.
I was reading this article by Steve Hefferon, from the Healthy Back Institute, and I love how he gives a detailed chart on exactly which foods to eat and which foods to avoid to control internal inflammation. As a result, controlling inflammation will help to alleviate back pain. He also goes into some other great "lifestyle" tips that are absolutely necessary, not only for pain control, but healthy weight loss as well.
The Healthy Back Institute's "Lose The Back Pain" system is the only program I recommend for back pain sufferers. Their system for assessing and analyzing the cause of your back pain is so precise, I have even recommended it to non-back pain sufferers for preventative purposes.
If you are currently struggling to follow your exercise program because of nagging back pain, this is the perfect place to start. Find out if the "Lose The Back Pain" system is exactly what you have been looking for to alleviate back pain and get started on a great workout program today
You'll want to investigate the "Lose The Back Pain" system for yourself if you value ridding yourself of back pain. Do this from the same site immediately after you print out the chart of foods and lifestyle tips I mentioned above at this link:

P.S. - Stay tuned for tomorrow's Special Recipe Newsletter, where I share the delicious dinner I made last night in 20 minutes! It was yummy! (and anti-inflammatory, of course)
